<div><br><strong>PURPOSE OF THE ROLE</strong></div>

<div>The Head of Finance is a pivotal role at ActionFunder - part financial steward, part operational partner. Reporting to the COO and CEO, and working closely with our Finance Board Advisor, you’ll hold both the financial accounting and management accounting responsibilities that keep the business running smoothly. You’ll also engage directly with the board, so the ability to communicate with clarity and confidence is just as important as technical expertise.<br>&nbsp;<br>This is a hands-on role with real ownership - of financial processes, controls, and commercial insight. You’ll be someone who thrives with autonomy, brings structure to ambiguity, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a fast-growing, mission-driven company.</div>
<div><br><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES&nbsp;</strong></div>
<div><br>Financial Key Contact:</div>
<ul>
<li>Act as the primary internal contact for financial queries, liaising with our Finance Board Advisor, external accountants, and relevant third parties</li>
<li>Maintain accurate, well-organised financial records and documentation</li>
<li>Support preparation of financial reports, KPIs, monthly management accounts, and board pack inputs supported by the Finance Board Advisor</li>
<li>Ensure timely, reliable financial information is available to leadership when needed</li>
</ul>
<div>Payroll &amp; Core Accounting:&nbsp;</div>
<ul>
<li>Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and reconciliations</li>
<li>Carry out bookkeeping in Xero, including bank reconciliations and accurate transaction records</li>
<li>Own payroll end-to-end — accountable for accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery</li>
<li>Manage quarterly VAT returns, liaising with HMRC and external accountants as required</li>
<li>Support month-end and year-end close, assist in preparing management accounts and ensure books are audit-ready</li>
</ul>
<div>Platform Transaction Management:&nbsp;</div>
<ul>
<li>Reconcile grant payments made through the ActionFunder platform</li>
<li>Maintain compliant payment processes and optimise these as transaction volumes grow</li>
<li>Manage financial operations for our charitable arm payment solution, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance</li>
</ul>
<div>Cash, risk &amp; Financial Planning Support:&nbsp;</div>
<ul>
<li>Monitor cash position and maintain up-to-date cash flow forecasts</li>
<li>Maintain and update financial models, budgets, and rolling forecasts in conjunction with our Board Advisor</li>
<li>Support scenario planning and preparation of financial materials for investors</li>
</ul>

<div><strong>SKILLS &amp; EXPERIENCE&nbsp;</strong></div>
<ol>
<li>2 years+ post Qualified, Qualified by Experience, or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)</li>
<li>Must show aptitude, skills and experience to lead a finance department day-to-day</li>
<li>Accounting experience, including VAT, reconciliations, and month-end processes as well as payroll</li>
<li>Comfortable working with financial models, budgets, and forecasts — able to maintain and update spreadsheets with accuracy</li>
<li>Experience in a startup, scale-up, preferably at a B2B SaaS company — at ease with ambiguity and building process from scratch</li>
<li>Organised and proactive, with the confidence to work autonomously and manage a broad remit across finance and operations</li>
</ol>
